This is an advanced professional position providing direct therapeutic services to identified mental health and substance abuse clients. The counselor will be responsible for maintaining patient care in accordance with program guidelines and external standards (Joint Commission, Medicaid, etc.). The counselor will provide clinical services to the following populace: individual, family and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. The counselor will have at least two years experience in working with at risk population to include families experiencing substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and emotional disturbance. Previous child welfare experience and/or certification preferred.
Master's degree in a Human Services related discipline and at least one year experience in the behavioral health field. State of Florida registered interns with clear/active status preferred. Computer knowledge should include Mircrosoft applications (Word, Excel) and Electronic Medical Records experience. May be responsible for other miscellaneous administrative duties.
Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience. May be required to travel within Hillsborough County via agency or personal vehicle to provide services in a community setting. Multi-tasking, fast paced, team approach requiring above average time management skills.
