Provides direct nursing care to patients with a behavioral health disorder based on a systematized body of knowledge. Oversees care provided by Behavioral Health Technicians. Utilizes nursing process including assessment, identification of nursing problems, planning, execution, evaluation and modification of nursing interventions as determined by patient outcomes. Acknowledges, coordinates and implements diagnostic and therapeutic orders. Assures patient safety through safe adminstration of medications, prevention of violent behavior, patient injury, and infection control. Participates as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. Licensed Practical Nurse program with one year experience preferred. Current unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, families, employees, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and request the assistance of the RN when necessary. Ability to multi-task, display decision-making and critical thinking skills and basic computer skills. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. Psychiatric health care setting. May be inpatient acute setting. Fast paced team approach. Multi-tasking, requiring above average time management skills.
