Provides direct nursing care to patients with a behavioral health disorder based on a systematized body of knowledge. Oversees care by Behavioral Health Technicians. Utilizes nursing process including assessment, identification of nursing problems, planning, evaluation, and modification of nursing interventions as determined by patient outcomes. Acknowledges, coordinates and implements diagnostic and therapeutic orders. Assures patient safety through safe administration of medications, prevention of violent behavior, patient injury treatment team. Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
Licensed Practical Nurse program with one year experience preferred. Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Florida. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, families, employees and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and request the assistance of the RN when necessary. Ability to multi-task, display decision-making and critical thinking skills, and basic computer skills.
Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience.
