Administrative position primarily responsible for prior authorization of medications and medical necessity determination. This position involves the application of clerical skills to a variety of clinical information and medical record systems. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and the ability to type 35 wpm. Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn and use other computer software. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with, provides information to, and responds to questions from supervisors, clients, parent/guardians, and other employees of the organization. Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationship required for proper functioning. Knowledge of managed care concepts, Medicaid standards and authorization policies and procedures. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone. May be required to complete standing presentations involving speaking and listening to audience. Provides exceptional customer service in all communications and interactions with staff, general public. Maintains confidentiality and remains calm under stress.
